Fresh4Bio in short

The overall objective of Fresh4Bio is to advance the current state of knowledge of the impact of the Arctic freshwater export and Greenland ice discharge on modulating the water column structure and phytoplankton dynamics on the East Greenland Shelf. Because plankton have an ephemeral nature with finescale features it is nearly impossible to track these with available conventional remote sensing. As such there is a huge scientific knowledge gap which has proven both expensive and difficult to track with in-situ observations. Filling this knowledge gap will be achieved through a dedicated effort in mapping and quantifying three important components of the Arctic marine primary production: Greenlandic and oceanic freshwater export, water column structure, and phytoplankton biomass.
