The SWOT Science Team Meeting in Arcachon provided an opportunity for Fresh4Bio to share ongoing research activities. During the meeting, Sara presented results from Activity 2 of the project in a poster titled Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) observations unveil small mesoscale variability on the East Greenland Shelf. The presentation showcased how high-resolution sea surface height data from the SWOT satellite mission is being used to study fine-scale ocean dynamics along the East Greenland coast. These small-scale processes play a key role in vertical exchanges of heat, nutrients, and carbon—important factors in understanding the impacts of climate change in the Arctic. By combining SWOT data with advanced mapping techniques, the project is enhancing our ability to monitor ocean circulation even in challenging areas like the sea-ice-covered shelf.
